About Me
To subscribe to my photo blogs which can be anything from brown bear in Alaska to ladybugs in the backyard e mail me and put word "subscribe" in the subject line. I do a blog story 2 to 4 months - I won't fill up your inbox. It's simple, I have a love for photography and the world we live in and especially nature. I usually don't get too technical but try to tell a story.
Like other years I decided to photograph plants or animals in my studio. This last spring of 2022 one of the things I decided to photograph was Painted Lady Butterflies in a terrarium. I was hoping to get a butterfly coming out of the Chrysalis stage. Unfortunately I didn't capture that happening with the camera I wanted to capture it with. I did get the coming out with my GoPro.
But I did some cool photos just after hatching and some close ups of the butterflies.
The four stages of the Painted Lady Butterfly are egg, caterpillar, chrysalis, and butterfly

Once the Painted Lady Butterfly hatches out of its chrysalis, it will not grow to be any larger
Butterflies don't have tongues, they have a proboscis which many people think of as a tongue but it's more like having your mouth extended into a long tube
