Appreciate your support and feedback
Just wanted to thank everyone on social media and internet for supporting me with “likes” ,comments, and purchasing my photos. I have this passion for photography that is still strong and keeps me active and going, but I’d be lying if I said the feedback was not important to me. It is important….THANK YOU.
Realized this March it will be 8 years since I retired and started DLF Photo. I was told a person should specialize with certain style or subject to get known for that particular subject and style to be successful. Like micro photography of flowers, black and white human interest photos, unique mushrooms, images of old building or one of thousand different subjects and styles. Other words become an expert and known for certain type of images or subjects.
I think there is a lot of truth in that statement but that is not what I did. I photographed whatever interested me at the time using whatever style that suited me at the that time. Digital photography lets you bend and twists those pixel every which way. So sometimes I bend away. Why, because I can and sometimes the results look really cool. I call my work paintography when I use this style. Other times my style is make the image look like it originally looked to me only using the standard Photoshop tools exposure, color and contrast. I enjoy this style of photograph too.
The rest of the post is me rambling about my passion.

Okay, so I use different styles in my photography. Also, I photograph many different subjects. I started by photographing West Virginia scenes. Then I did some travel photography at exotic places we vacationed.

I have photographed some local bands that has been fun. If I get an photo idea that needs a model I photograph with a model.

Basically I imagine my own projects, then figure out how to photograph it. Like when I saw this cool fish that spits water at insects off of leaves above the water to knock the insect in the water and eat it. I set up an aquarium in my basement, bought some Archer fish put them in the aquarium and photographed them in my basement spitting water at the insects.

One year because of temporary health issues I couldn’t get out much so started photographing birds and squirrels in my backyard. That turned into scenes of squirrels playing beer pong and drinking out of kegs of beer and other stuff.

Then I got the idea I wanted to photograph beer and wine flying through the air. So I covered the basement floor with tarps and started throwing wine and beer.

At this time decided to separate my work into my “photo art” and more commercial images for T shirts mugs etc. calling the new website and Facebook page GreyTailTales. Not sure why I did separate them but seemed important to me at time. It has caused me more computer time and confusion to me which is not good.
I have always enjoyed photographing wildlife but this past year I concentrated more on wildlife. I photographed burrowing owls and wading birds in Florida. Photographed the Sand Hill birds migration in Nebraska. I photograph black bear in Tennessee every year but this year and last year photographed wild horses in North Carolina also.

I got lucky and photographed a young red fox that was orphaned, three baby fishers that nest was destroyed when tree cut down, and two baby bobcats that mother was killed. All these animals were feed, sheltered, and basically saved by West Virginia Wildlife Center. One fisher had to have tail removed because of infection.

I photographed a grey fox in friends backyard that was eating the cat food left outside. She must of had a sweet tooth because she loved marshmallows. She was getting use to being photographed and I had plans of photographing her climbing a tree. But before I could get it set up with bait the fox got in neighbor's chicken coop and killed bunch of chickens. She is now a pelt. Very disappointing for me, (and for the fox) doubt ever get a chance like that again.
